Jabberwocky is undeniably the most famous and best-loved whimsy of Victorian poetry. Robert Buchert's fresh typography and his exciting, imaginative, bronzed linoleum cuts work together to deliver one punchy reinterpretation of a poem we all love to recite. Lewis Carroll would be thrilled.

A little strange history about our first edition of Jabberwocky—Originally, the run was set for 120 copies. Some time after the edition was printed, we discovered with dismay that the ink for the illustrations had bled through the paper. Scrapping our work, we began again. We searched for a suitable paper, and eventually found one, also handmade, which was even more lovely than the first and perfect for the project; we bought just enough to give it a good trial. The books we produced held ink beautifully. Happily back on track, we attempted to order more of the new paper to complete the run. Suddenly it was nowhere to be found in stock—not in the US, not in Europe, not anywhere! After many phone calls, we finally learned that the sole Sicilian mill that produced this wonderful paper was no longer in existence; it had recently been blown up by the Mafia. We scrounged and haggled for one sheet here and two sheets there from other artists and suppliers scattered across the world, and eventually came up with just enough for an abbreviated edition of twenty. Precious few, but what a book!

Ironically, Jabberwocky has been our most sought-after title to date. And so it is that by popular demand, plans for a larger second edition of Jabberwocky are at last being made. O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
